Super control
He controlled almost everything. He controlled space —both Earth and Mars— and movement in space. He controlled movement on —and below—Earth. He controlled the wireless frequencies. He controlled electricity. He controlled robots. He controlled computation. He controlled people's brains.
Directly and indirectly, he could influence everything to enable his perspective. Whether immediate and reflexive or long and systematic, his manipulative power would bend anything under his command to his will. Except, happily for some, for the few disconnected countries that remained true to their color. The rest was under his desirous control.
His initial power came to be due to his ruthless genius. His supreme power came to be through his personal GENASI. It was the last and final thing he needed to secure nearly complete control of what was possible with the reality they started with. A GENeral Artificial Super Intelligence was used, asked, and answered the questions he needed to extend their power nearly wherever and whenever they calculated or wanted it.
Their reach into the digital and into the physical controlled futures short and long. With it, he could accurately delay or deny at will. They prevented information from flowing or even, if required, denying something's —or someone's— existence.
Their greedy game of life was almost solved.
He was such a stereotypical supervillain that no one thought it could become real. It was so obvious that no one could believe it... Science fiction was just that. Fiction, right?
Just like the sci-fi reality of his necessary accomplice, GENASI, the fiction of him coming to such extreme power was most certainly guaranteed
